HEALTH UPDATE

It's been two months since we heard from our vet that Leia likely had just weeks left with us given the fluid accumulation in her chest.

We started this blog to document some pretty great memories with Leia, which has also become very therapeutic, and to share her adventures with family and friends.  At the time, we were struggling to get Leia to eat, she was lethargic, and would stop frequently on walks.  Her new normal was only being able to go for a few blocks before she would be winded and downtrodden.

Once we let go of the worrying, stress, almost-weekly trips to the vet, the tests, and focused on making her happy, it was like her spirits lifted.  She seemed to be feeding off our energy, and finally, finally, she was hungry again.  Attitude really must be healing.

Today was the first day in several months where she was able to do the old walk-route she loved.   She wasn't winded, just a little sleepy, and wasn't working hard to breathe.  A big milestone!

We still need to watch for and count her breathing (we're very familiar with bpm - breaths per minute), and although we don't know how much time we will get with her, we are hopeful that it will be longer than we had expected.  It already has been.

So thank you, friends, for your constant support, encouragement, help with training, and following along on our goal to make her the most spoiled, happy puppy around.
