This was Leia's first trip to Mount Baker, for which my friend lent us his nice camera (a very trusting and slightly foolish decision based on my propensity for clumsiness). Brent, I did not fail you.
She did great in the car as we drove up the mountain in search of snow. She loves the snow!
We arrived at the upper lodge and found an empty spot for her to run around. She
could hardly wait to get out of the car.

She's a bounder and an explorer. Where the snow got really deep she seemed hilariously confused.
He's her favorite, she'd chase him anywhere.
Although I'm the one she goes to for love and cuddling.
I think this dog would live out in the snow if we let her. We'd try to get her to take breaks so she had time to catch her breath, but she quickly caught onto our game and would dodge us
when we came near her.
when we came near her.
When we leave for work in the morning we use the same phrase: "See you later, we'll be back!" so if she was getting too far out, eventually we'd start walking and call out "Ok, see you later!". Her ears perked up and she came running after us. Silly puppy, works every time!
But the day wasn't over yet.
On the way back down the mountain, we pulled off at a trailhead and brought Leia down to the Nooksack River. As far as we know, this was her first time around water (other than
walking around Lake Padden).
We didn't plan on her going into the water, something we were hoping to do later, but she got a little overzealous climbing along the rocks and fell in. She paddled to shore but was not happy!
Thankfully Bobby was there to console her.
After rubbing herself off on warm rocks, she was back to it. Clearly it did not scar her.

Great pictures. It looks like Princess Leia had a great time. Can't wait for our doggy play date! Melissa
ReplyDeleteI Love this blog! She looks like such a sweet pup. I told Brandon about the bucket list, and he's conjuring up something to suggest I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melissa, me too! Leia's never had a play date before - she'll have a blast. Especially at the "cookie lady's" house ;)
ReplyDeleteDeanna, thank you! We hope she's still with us in July so you can meet her. And tell Brandon to keep them coming. Even any weird ones he thinks up.
Every dog has it's day - or two, or three! What joy your brought to Leia and your family unit. She is loved. Thank you for sharing. Christine and Ross Jenkins
