BUTTER & BISCUITS

"With enough butter, anything is good" ~ Julia Child

Let's be honest, almost everything is made better by butter.  But we never thought of giving Leia any as a treat.  Literally, chunks of butter.  Our friend Amanda said it was a must, and as I was ticking off the first Bucket List item - making Leia her favorite homemade dog biscuits - I figured
I'd give it a go.  Amanda, you have created a butterhog!

 Her first taste

Normally we don't let her counter-surf, but I let it slide so she could check out what I was doing.

I was snapping pictures and underestimated her love of this new-found snack.
And unfortunately, she's quick.

After I chased her into the living room before she could eat the whole brick,
the counter-surfing was curbed.

I made two types of biscuits:  Cheddar Beef and Pumpkin. She goes nuts for both!  We started with the cheddar beef ones and tried out a new, smaller, bone cookie cutter.

And why bother baking if you can't eat a little bit of raw dough?!

Then we worked on the pumpkin ones while the cheddar beef biscuits cooled.  These are really easy to store - just stick them in a sealed Ziploc bag, or in an airtight container.  The batches make quite a few so we have our to-go stash on the counter and then stuff the rest in the pantry.

The whole process takes a few hours, mostly torturing the dog with the smells that waft from the oven, but it's completely worth it when she finally gets to have one.
